Some Wedding Traditions Don't Have to be Followed

Something borrowed, something blue, something old, something new, tossing the bouquet, the inability to see your partner before the wedding…there are many traditions within the wedding world. It can be hard to keep up with every tradition, and even more frustrating to plan for every single one. Just remember, it is your wedding day, and nothing has to take place if you don’t want it featured within your big day.

Weddings are not the same for every bride. It is your day to make your wedding dream come true, with or without certain traditions.

Here at Signature Occasions, we know how important traditions can be to a big day, as well as how not celebrating a tradition can be just as alright. That’s why we have put together a few wedding traditions that don’t have to be followed on your big day. If you are planning your own wedding and are in need of some inspiration, be sure to keep reading to discover more:

  • Choosing a side. When your guests attend your wedding, there will certainly be guests that are friends with both of you. Choosing whether to sit on the bride’s side or the groom’s side can be difficult, especially if you have a tight knit group of friends. So, why make them choose at all? You can allow open seating for your ceremony. After all, your two families are becoming one. There is no need to make your guests choose one side or the other.

  • White wedding dress. A white wedding dress can be so dazzling and extravagant. However, if you feel that a white wedding gown will take away from your originality, you certainly do not have to settle with one. There are many lovely colors in the world around you, and you can bring those hues to your dress. Once again, it is your wedding day and you can wear whatever you want. From an all-color dress, to just infusing a little bit of shade, the choice is ultimately yours.

  • No bridal party. One of the hardest parts of planning a wedding can be choosing who will be in your wedding party, from the bridesmaids to the maid of honor. Whether you have a close group of friends or don’t really have close friends that you want featured within your wedding day, you can choose to forgo the bridal party completely. This is also true if your partner has groomsmen and a best man. Nowhere does it say that you must have a bridal party.

Your day is your own, from the entertainment to the attire. You can choose to do what makes you and your partner happy on your special day. Here at Signature Occasions, we want to help plan your big day.
